About LANNINGSMITH:

LANNINGSMITH is a multidisciplinary creative studio specializing in the production of unique

delivering complex projects with precision and care.

We're looking for a Fabrication Technician to join our production team and help expand the

technical fabrication capacity of the studio.

‍

Role Overview

The Fabrication Technician is a hands-on role focused on digital fabrication, machine operation and maintenance, and technical production.

Working closely with our production team, you'll help turn drawings and digital files into

accurately fabricated physical components using CNC routers, 3D printers, laser cutters, and

traditional fabrication tools. You will also help to maintain equipment, improve systems, and

keep the shop running smoothly.

We're looking for someone who enjoys making things, solving technical problems, working

collaboratively, and moving between digital tools and hands-on fabrication. This is primarily a

production technician role - not a project-management or client-facing position.

‍

-Set up and operate CNC routers, 3D printers, and laser-cutting equipment

-Prepare files and toolpaths for digital fabrication

-Fabricate components from drawings and production information

-Support woodworking, assembly, prototyping, and general shop fabrication

-Develop jigs, fixtures, templates, and efficient production methods

-Troubleshoot routine machine, file, and fabrication issues

-Check completed components for accuracy and quality

-Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain tooling

-Work with designers and production staff to solve fabrication challenges

-Help improve digital fabrication workflows and shop capabilities

‍

‍

‍

Qualifications:

-Hands-on experience with CNC routing and digital fabrication

-Experience preparing files and toolpaths using CAD/CAM software

-Familiarity with 3D printing and laser cutting

-Experience with woodworking and general fabrication

-Ability to read and work from drawings and dimensions

-Strong mechanical and spatial problem-solving skills

-Organized, detail-oriented, and quality focused

-Comfortable moving between computer-based work and hands-on fabrication

-Curious, adaptable, and interested in improving how things are made

‍

Helpful, But Not Required:

-G Suite, particularly Google Calendar, Gmail and Google Drive

-Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator

-Project management software such as Basecamp

-Production scheduling and workflow planning

-Material sourcing and vendor coordination

-Basic estimating, budgeting, or job costing

-Inventory and materials management

-Developing or documenting shop processes and workflows

-Experience working in a creative studio, agency, experiential, exhibit, or custom production environment

-Photography or documentation of completed work

-Interest in developing broader production and operational skills

-You don't need to be an expert in everything. We're looking for someone with a solid technical foundation who is excited to learn and expand their capabilities.

‍

Compensation & Benefits

‍

-Competitive salary commensurate with experience

-Medical, dental, and vision benefits

-Retirement plan with company match

-Paid time off and holidays

-Professional development and growth opportunities
